Sun Chemical will host members of the PAC, Packaging Consortium, a not-for-profit corporation that is a partner and catalyst for the packaging value chain, at its Brampton, Ontario facility on November 10. The session will review current trends shaping consumer buying behavior and highlight how Sun Chemical can help stand out on shelf through product innovation with inks, coatings and HD plates—all from a single source. The session will show Sun Chemical’s new corporate video and conclude with a tour of the manufacturing facility. “We’re excited to host members of PAC and discuss how they can create impactful packaging with unique insights and innovation,” says Rod Staveley, president of Sun Chemical Canada. “We will show our guests how we can take them from concept to shelf to meet their individual printing requirements through inks that help packaging pop off the shelf, specialty coatings that engage the senses, and digital plate technology which provides sharper images than standard plates.” Sun Chemical will discuss how a wide variety of its inks both offer excellent performance and shelf standout. One example will be SunSpectro Sunsharp HR solvent-based inks that have been developed for high-speed flexographic printing on polyethylene film. With a moderate heat resistance of up to 350 degrees, SunSpectro Sunsharp inks maintain excellent gloss and are suitable for use with conventional and high-performance printing plates. Sun Chemical will show how its coatings include options for satin, matte and gloss printing, in addition to its SunInspire sensory coatings line which offer special effects that allow a customers’ product packaging to stand out on store shelves visually through high luster metallic, fluorescent, glitter, pearlescent, as well as iridescent finishes. SunInspire tactile coatings, ranging from coarse and gritty to soft and smooth, appeal to the sense of touch. Other coatings in the line can create an interactive experience with color shifting, reticulating, and other aromatic coatings. Guests at the plant will learn about Sun Chemical’s SunGraphics high definition flexographic plate technology, with Esko HD software and CDI high resolution imaging. Printers that utilize the HD printing plates can print with an image quality of up to 4,000 PPI resulting in expanded tonal range and wider color gamut to produce sharper more vibrant images and colors. Certified by Esko through a rigorous process, Sun Chemical’s HD plates are one of the select few worldwide that are proven to help achieve higher ink densities, reduce or eliminate pin-holing, improve print quality in the shadow areas and create a smoother more uniform ink lay down for solid coverage. PAC, Package Consortium members will be charged $70 to attend the event. Non-members will be charged $100. For more information, contact Lindsey Ogle at [email protected].
